Peanut Butter Granola

4 cups quick oats
1 cup rolled wheat flakes
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup wheat germ
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter flavoring
¼ tsp maple flavoring

In a large bowl, combine quick oats, wheat flakes, brown sugar, wheat germ and salt. In a separate bowl, combine vegetable oil, water, peanut butter, vanilla extract, butter flavoring and maple flavoring.

Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine wet ingredients. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ones. Pour the wet ingredient mixture over the dry ingredient mixture. With clean hands, thoroughly mix the ingredients until well combined. Spread the mixture into a 9”x13” pan or several pans if needed. Bake for one hour, stirring every 20 minutes, or until the granola is dry and lightly browned.

*Note: for fine and flaky textured granola, replace the water in the recipe with oil and stir immediately after removing from the oven. For a chunkier texture, use more water and less oil, stir less while baking, and let set till partially cooled after removing from oven before stirring.
