Hominy is corn that has been stripped of their bran and germ. Especially popular in the south, whole or ground hominy is boiled until it's tender and then served as a side dish. It can also be served as a cereal, vegetable and can even be made into patties and fried.
Cooking Instructions
- White Hominy
- 1 cup dry hominy
- 4 cups cold water
- Soak hominy in water overnight. Add 1/2 or 1
- tsp. salt and cook. Makes 6 servings. Serve
- hot with browned butter in place of potatoes.
Optional cooking method:
- cook approx. 3 1/2hr
- in crockpot on high, stirring occasionally.
